Last Friday KTEH was honored with the Media Championship of the Year award for “outstanding media coverage of health issues to educate and build community awareness.” The award was presented to KTEH by the Community Health Partnership.
The award stems from the local outreach work KTEH did around a four-part PBS special called, Unnatural Causes: is inequality making us sick? The program explores racial and socio-economic inequalities in health. Our community outreach group presented screenings for local groups followed by discussions about the issues raised in the documentary series. (You can learn more about the series by clicking the link above.)
The subject matter of this series is very familiar to those in The Community Health Partnership. If you have health insurance, chances are you haven’t heard of The Partnership. Their mission is to make health care accessible to everyone regardless of their ability to pay for it. Through its 600 clinics, the partnership provides care to 122,000 low-income and uninsured residents each year whether they can pay for it or not. That number will surely increase this year as unemployment rises and more and more families are without health insurance. Find out more about the Community Health Partnership here.

Becca, I loved the program Kingdom last year. Will you be carrying new seasons of it? KTEH is my favorite and most watched station. Thank you, Jackie

Jackie,
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed Kingdom. You are not alone.
It was popular enough that we will be re-airing the first 2 seasons beginning in June. We are hoping to get the third season. The distributor
may not make it available to us, though.
Thanks for asking,
b
