Lead by Michael Isip, Karen Gabay, Susana Arias, Irene Dalis, Eddie Gale & Annie Morhauser discuss the State of the Arts.
"Got to Have Art" was Annie Morhouser's (Annie Glass) answer to the question, "if you wrote a slogan to sell the arts, what would it be?" Eddie Gale countered with "Inner Peace Through Art!" This was just part of a lively discussion about the arts between members and friends of KTEH and five local, fine and performing artists who have been profiled on This is Us.
How are artists faring the current economic climate, are they able to expand their audiences and is San Jose "artist friendly?" These are a few of the questions that were fielded by the stellar panel. Sculpter/painter Susana Arias and Jazz musician Eddie Gale weighed in with the individual artist's perpecitive. Irene Dalis, founder of Opera San Jose and prima ballerina, Karen Gabay offered the arts organization point of view, while artist/entrepreneur Annie Morhouser represented the business angle. The gathering was organized by KTEH/KQED and hosted by Joe and Nicki Parisi.

"Make Art a Part of Your Life!"
As a local artist & arts advocate for many years, one of my current "pet" projects is to present more successful artists as good role models for our youth. Your focus on these artists & You-tube videos does this nicely! Several of these artists have volunteered their time to talk with local teens during "Career Days", representing successful artists. We definitely need to promote Artists as Role Models. Thank you for your focus on our arts!
