Unfortunately, newspapers, news magazines, and tv news are all losing relevance to my daily life because the Internet undermines their ability to continue their ways of providing only one side of the story.
I used to read all the Bay Area dailies and watch the news.

I used to work in newspapers and I volunteered at KTEH in the 1980's. I would trust what I heard from newspapers and NPR and PBS as there was no way to check the truth of their stories. They had people working on location.

With the rise of the Internet, I can go directly to primary sources and find information for myself. I can go to non-US based newspapers and find out what is happening here.

For example, when I hear news stories about education cutbacks, I go directly to the state budget web site, or school district web sites and see the actual data. When I hear stories about individuals or organizations, I do the leg work to find the primary information directly.

I don't want to do this, but I found that the media doesn't provide accurate information. It provides information that fits the media profile: it covers only topics that it wants to, cover only selected facts in those topics, and inserts opinion into that coverage to promote a political viewpoint.

Interestingly enough, I think those who support this viewpoint are blissfully unaware of this situation. No amount of evidence is adequate to prove this, and anyone claiming this is marginalized, so the system is not capable of being improved. As a result, many potential subscribers, listeners, and viewers abandon the entire news media and treat it as something akin to political newsletters.

My friends and family members and neighbors could provide you with vast numbers of examples, but they won't even try. Everyone's canceled their newspaper and newsmag subscriptions, since they think it's beyond repair.

I'll be watching and tell all my bridge friends!!! You look good on the snippet on you Tube. I couldn't hear the brilliant dialogue because the sound stopped working and I can't figure out how to get it back on. I probably pushed the wrong button! I hate being so computer illiterate!

Please, please, please repeat Larkrise to Candleford #115 (Feb 20). The sound was off. It's my favorite show of the whole week besides Doc Martin.

Thanks very much for your excellent programming.

I just thought I'd try to leave another post since I just spoke with Comcast. As I suspected, they have been getting lots of calls tonight because people think that the audio problems are due to Comcast. Comcast advised me that the problem is with KTEH and that you are aware of it. When other stations have audio or video problems, there is a streamer running across the screen letting viewers know about the issues. Is it too much to ask that KTEH do the same?

I'll try to record the later shows and hope that the audio will be working by then... but, I'm not optimistic.

I thought I'd also let you know that I'm a big fan of your Friday night Mystery series. I'm not sure you're still offering it.

Thank you for listening.

As Dean above says, I've also been very disappointed this evening. Larkrise to Candleford and now Sherlock Holmes have no audio in San Francisco. I've been on hold with Comcast for about 15 minutes but I suspect the problem is with KTEH since all of the other stations have sound.

It's a Saturday night and I'm surprised and disappointed that there hasn't even been any kind of notice on the screen that you're having problems. It's now 10:30PM so the sound has been off for well over an hour.

KTEH can do better than this

Dear Becca,

We are trying to watch our favorite show of the week, Larkrise to Candleford,on Comcast Cable in Monterey, but the audio has been off all evening (Sat. 2/20). Comcast says the problem is from KTEH. Don't you have technicians monitoring these things?
Dissapointed..
